port_ipNew Irish Poet Joan Kelly has been writing poetry for many years.  Joan has lived most of her life in Belfast.  In 1971 Joan met and married her late husband Danny.  Danny, who made an indelible mark on her life, was her inspiration, giving her the confidence and resolve to write and from there her passion for poetry grew.

Danny had a resounding belief in her ability to write and encouraged Joan to follow her heart, the result of which is this truly marvelous piece of art in “Poetry Celebrating the Gift of A Mother’s Love”.  Joan still loves to travel around  Ireland, snapping up the beautiful scenery as she goes and here in her photo gallery she shares some of her pictures taken this year.  Joan aims to make poetry more acceptable to and read by ordinary people, since her writing is simple, raw, lyrical poetry, clearly expressed and easily understood.

As there is no need to decipher the poetry to find meaning, which is often a barrier to understanding, her writing will be more appealing to people who would not normally read poetry.  This book will invigorate the poetry market and enhance the image of Belfast and Ireland and hopefully stand for many years as a valuable contribution to the literary world.
